My Favorite Things, Winter/Spring Edition

I love the things I love. Like a lot. And once I latch onto something, I can’t help but recommend it to most everyone I encounter. These are a few of my favorite things that get me through the winter and spring: workout gear, outdoor shoes and ambience elements for the home. This post is dedicated and inspired by my sister Megan, who recommended most of these things to me because she has flawless taste. Hope you enjoy and maybe discover something wonderful <3, h

Vuori Sweats

Recommenders said “ok yes they’re really expensive but they’re absolutely worth it.” And after splurging on a pair for myself, I couldn’t agree more. Vuori sweats are like if Lululemon and the inside of a brand new sweatshirt had a baby. They’re ridiculously soft, stretchy, breathable and just downright cozy. The style is a classic slim jogger, also making them tres chic. I’ve worn mine almost every day and they’re pretty damn resilient too. As a bonus, they tend to have a cult following: numerous times I’ve worn them, someone on the street has said “oh my God are those Vuoris? I’m obsessed with mine. If they’re not in the wash they’re on my body.” No joke, I think that was verbatim. So yeah, the consensus says they’re a must-have. I have them in the dark heathered grey. Girlfriend Collective Paloma Bra

I absolutely adore Girlfriend Collective. They have a super strong brand, the product is high quality, beautiful and flattering, and their commitment to sustainability and size inclusivity is heart-melting. Each piece is made from recycled plastic bottles, so you can feel excited and validated with each purchase. Plus, they launched their brand by giving away millions of free pairs of leggings, and they’re native to Seattle. Wins all around. The Paloma Bra is my absolute favorite for training, hiking, running, you name it. It is equal parts smoothing and asset boosting, keep everything sucked in and pushing up the boobs for a flattering and sleek gym lewk. I have it in approximately seven colors; every time they have a new hue I like I try to grab it before they sell out (which they do, often). My other favorites are the Float Juliet Bra and the Lift Long Sleeve Crop Top. Use this link for $10 off your first order of $95 or more.

Voluspa Baltic Amber Candle

Do you have any of those scents you can’t live without? This is mine. It is the warmest, vanilla-y amber-y, comforting candle, and I can’t help but melt into a puddle every time I smell it. According to the Voluspa site, this candle has notes of “Amber Resin, Sandalwood & Vanilla Orchid.” Whatever they are, they’re heavenly. I always buy the large size in the pretty glass jar from Anthropologie and burn to add warm, glowy vibes to the ambience. I’d call it my home’s signature scent. I typically buy three or four at a time (usually when there’s a sale) so I never have to be without it. Buy at Anthropologie or Voluspa.

Sorel Boots

I adore Sorel boots. Demonstrably, I have three different pairs for all types of weather, specifically in the shoulder seasons of unpredictable Seattle weather. The Out and About booties (old style, unfortunately) for general rainy days and PNW exploring, the Tivoli II boots for walking the dog in any weather and the occasional snowfall, and the Joan of Arctic heavy duty girls for deep mountain snow. And while I can’t pick a favorite, I can tell you that they are the all-time best weather boots for any adventure life throws my way. The price per wear on these puppies have certainly made them veeerry valuable to me. Buy at Sorel.com.

Duraflame Firestart

If you’re lucky enough to have a fireplace, USE IT. I’m living in my first apartment with one, and I’ve had a fire virtually every single night since the fall. Shockingly, starting a fire in a fireplace can be downright challenging. I grab these from the store in addition to a bundle of firewood to help me get the flames going. Buy on Amazon.

Lululemon Fast & Free Tight

I love lululemon leggings; I almost won’t buy any other kind. They fit my (larger than average) booty so well, and they have so many different options for any type of exercise. If you’re a runner, you need these particular leggings: I have a harder time keeping leggings from riding down, and these fit the bill - they always stay up around my waist. And if not, they have a drawstring inside that you can adjust to keep them up. I also have shorter legs so I grab these in the 25” varietal. The best part is the pockets on both sides and the zipper pocket in the back: perfect to fit a phone, face mask and keys. Buy at lululemon.

Erath Pinot Noir

One of my favorite wines to keep stocked at my house. I adore Oregon Pinots for their drinkability and lower sugar content (less likelihood of a hangover). This one comes in a bit over my standard grocery store bottle price point at $15-$17 at Trader Joe’s and Fred Meyer, but I like to splurge now and then and snag when I can find it a few dollars cheaper, like at Total Wine (love you boo). Best served in a big wineglass next to a cozy fire. Make sure to pair with some really lovely wineglasses, like these and these.

Rumpl Blanket

A recommendation from a good friend. I had the luxury of a great alt-down blanket from Costco that I kept in the car for camping, beach bonfires or COVID-mandated outdoor drinks during the winter. I have to say: while I was (literally) covered in the warm blanket department, the adorability of Rumpl really seduced me. There is nothing quite as cute as this blanket; I’ve always been a sucker for ombre. Super cozy, super warm and super adorable, perfect for camping, fireside cozying or rooftop drinks. Oh, and each blanket has snaps on the edge that you can link together to make it into a blanket cape. Perfect for a hands-free camp accoutrement. Use this link for $15 off your purchase.
